    Regarding to the difference between the automotive diesel engine and construction diesel engine, here there are some points, firstly, the emission requirement of the construction diesel engine is very low; it pays more attention to the power and torque.

    The construction diesel engine required low speed, high torque and low rate. And it can adopt the pure water for cooling, and the restriction of size and weight is relatively small.

    The key is that there is a difference of the working characteristics between automotive diesel engine and construction diesel engine. Only that can they adapt different working environment.

    The construction diesel engine should be like that. The torque is bigger; it is more qualified for poor working environment.

    The structure of the construction engine is usually simpler; it requires a stable performance and it can adjust heavy load for a long time. That’s why the rated power and the continuous power of the construction engine is 12h, while the automotive engine just needs 15 minutes. Below is the power of the calibration: 15 minutes-the diesel engine is allowed to run 15 minutes continuously according to the rated power. It is suitable for automobile, motorcycle motor, boats, etc. 1 hour- the diesel engine is allowed to run 1 hour continuously according to the rated power. It is suitable for agricultural tractor, wheel type construction machinery, and mine locomotive, inland ship, etc. 12 hours- the diesel engine is allowed to run 12 hours continuously according to the rated power. It is suitable for construction tractor, drainage and irrigation, power generation, track type construction machinery, diesel locomotive and steamship, etc. Continuous power- the diesel engine is allowed to run continuously according to the rated power. It is suitable for ocean steamer, power station and Agricultural Irrigation, etc.

    The emission requirement of construction engine is lower than the same level vehicle diesel engine. While it is very strict to the working environment, and it has special demands to the high idle and low idle. And there is a difference of the governor requirement between automotive engine and construction engine. Generally, the automotive engine require that quick reflection and stable performance.

    Automotive diesel engine usually uses two conditions to govern the speed, while the construction engine needs the full work conditions. The automotive engine emphasized the high speed, the construction engine pay more attention to the high torque at low idle.

    The speed of construction engine is lower; usually the rated speed is 2200r/min, the torque reserve is commonly 20%-30% or more than. Generally the light vehicle speed is 3200-3600r/min, midsize vehicle is 2500-2800r/min, the heavy vehicle is 2000-3000r/min, and the torque reserve is 10%-12%.

    There are several special requirements of the construction engine: 1. it can work for a long time and less fuel consumption. 2. Strong power and high torque (20%-30%). 3. The rated power is the continuous power or 12 hours power. 4. Small size and light weight. (Air cooling engine seems to be not popular now, as the high cost and large noise, the cooling effect is not ideal.

    Automotive diesel engine for quick start and it often uses the poles of governor, and the requirements of the accuracy and the stability are not high. While the construction engine is the opposite, for example: the automotive crane with diesel engine, off part uses governor for driving the car, on parts with full speed for lifting.
